Shoe PORN: Cut Out Booties

Booties DollHouse

I won't get any wear out of these anytime soon but I still wanted to share with you. I find Dollhouse have a great selection of really inexpensive styles that are quite well made for the price. They always have really cute footwear that is perfect for when you're not sure you want to commit to a trend. I have also discovered that they are some of the most comfortable heels I own!!

Can you believe that I found these during the Winners Final Liquidation weekend for under 10$! I can't wait until the next Winners Final Sale...it is my favorite time to fill my wardrobe. Brand pieces at 90% off, can't beat that.

Denim Romper Vintage - Lace Cropped Top Vintage - Fedora Vintage

When vintage shopping, there is one primal rule that every hardcore thrifter must oblige by: Picture every single item outside of the thriftshop/flea market/vintage shop. Hanging beside a bunch of ugly bedazzled jeans and underarm stained shirt, it can be pretty hard to see the true potential of an over the top piece.

At the begining of July, my eye landed on this full lace cropped top. At first sight, it looked far from practical with it's cropped length and completely see-through lace. At only 50 cents, I felt it would be safe enough to take a chance by bringing it home with me.

Now that it was hanging in my closet, the only thing left to do was find out how the h*#^ I would wear it. My only concern was that getting this look just right was nothing short of mission impossible. There is a very fine line between achieving an outfit hit or a Oh-no-she-didn't. Pair it with a pair of highwaisted pants and the look is right out of the Britney era. However, with a highwaisted skirt or pair of pants and it looks so of-the-moment.

My rule of thumb with this trend: Skin = OK, Belly button = No good.

After playing aroud with it quite a bit, it has become one of my absolute favorite item. Want to know the most surprising thing? It has now become one of my go-to layering piece. It's the perfect finishing piece.

What can I say, lace goes with ANYTHING!

Bride to be...or not!

Photobucket

Even if I wanted to, I could never deny my romantic nature. I watch sappy movies that make me cry my eyes out. I love a good old fashioned love story with a good happy ending. I love buying bridal magazines just to take a look at all the gorgeous (ok, maybe some of them are pretty horrendous but this is part of the fun!) dresses just daydreaming about the day when I would get to pick my own. The idea of having someone to spend the rest of your life with someone has always been something I longed for. I have kissed many frogs but none of them have turned into the charming prince. I may still be on the look out for that perfect guy (I am extremely picky...what can I say, I know what I want!) but that doesn't mean I can't fantasize about my big day.

I couldn't believe my luck when I was contacted to take part in a bridal photoshoot in honor of the Bridal Boudoir Affair. The event, put on every year by Maddy K, is a real happening for futur brides. They get to meet the cream of the crop when it comes to planning the perfect wedding. To help promote the event, they asked 6 Montreal fashion blogger to recreate one bridal look each. How could I ever say no, I got to enjoy all of the fun parts of a wedding without anything of the downside. No need to settle for the wrong guy, only the fun stuff. For my very fake wedding, I got to be a vintage inspired bride complete with bird cage veil and all.

So what do you think? Do I make a decent bride?

Mad Halloween

Photobucket

Dress Vintage - Fur Cape Vintage - Necklace Vintage

As you all probably know, last Saturday was Halloween! My friends and I had decided to divert from our usual October 31st plan when we heard that L'Assomoir was having a Mad Men themed party. All being true Mad Men ladies at heart, we all immediately jumped at the chance to be transported to our favorite era.

Of course, my first choice was to go as Betty Draper but I soon realized that achieving a 50's style updo is not an easy feat when you have as much hair as I do. I chose the easy way out by going as a 40's old hollywood star. The party ended up being pretty boring but the night was a success if only because we had so much fun getting ready!
