Thrifting Finds: Vintage Moroccan Jewellery

Both Marché aux Puces Saint-Eustache

With the snow slowly melting comes off layers after layers of clothing…only to be replaced by a ridicule amount of accessories. Let’s face it, I’ve never been one to consider myself a minimalist when it comes to jewellery but when it gets hot, the ones way I can manage to layer is with necklaces, bracelets or rings! This is probably why my shopping as of late has consisted mainly of stops at Aldo accessories, H&M and Forever 21’s jewellery section or vintage merchants at my favorite flea market.
Above are my latest treasures bought during my first flea market visit of the new year. I think I'm off to a good start!

The warmer the weather gets, the more my bohemian/free spirited nature comes out. Of course, not having to wear a winter coat that looks like a sleeping bag helps a lot!! On top of it all, finally being able to get more vitamin D helps reduce my stress level and let's me bring out my carefree side. Getting dressed in the morning becomes much more of an adventure and my  usual styling rules (the ones I make for myself) don’t seem to apply anymore. I also find I am much more inclined to try out new trends and get more creative during the warmer months than when it is minus 30 outside. Positive point for you, outfit posts become a lot more fun to shoot…no more getting sick for blogging’s sake (ok, it never happened but I WAS playing with fire…)

Thrifting Spot: Kensington Market - Toronto

Photobucket

It is beyond me that I had never been to Kensington Market before…With the amount on road trips to Toronto I had been on over the years and not one time had I ever stepped foot on these wonderful little streets. Part flea market, part regular shop it was the absolute perfect activity for a sunny TO day. So much goodness, my eyes didn’t know where to look. Think vintage heaven, delicious food and gorgeous people! It was definitely love at first sight for yours truly.

What’s even more surprising is that I didn’t buy a single. As you know, I am much more into the fun of hunting for good vintage pieces among crap at my local charity shop/flea markets than I am into shopping at often overpriced vintage stores. However, the fun thing with Kensington market is that quite a few of those vintage boutiques were quite affordable. Mind you, prices were still higher than my usual 2/3 buck an items but for somebody that can’t be bothered with the treasure hunting it is the perfect place to find amazing vintage piece.

My heart truly fluttered when I saw this coat. At the time, I couldn’t justify spending 75$ on another winter coat when spring is almost here (that, and the fact that I have a million other coats) but I now want to bang my head against the wall for not buying it! Here’s to hoping it’s still there when I visit next time…and I’m already planning my next road trip.
In the meantime, enjoy some eye candy...

The Perfect Little White Lace Dress

I have to be honest, I've been completely obsessed with finding the perfect white lace dress since...well, FOREVER! It feels like i've been looking for such a long time without having any luck. It may be due to the fact that I've had the image of my dream dress stamped on my mind for a while now.

What I'm looking for:
  • White or Cream shades (duh!)
  • Some lace or crochet details (has to be nice quality lace)
  • At the most 4 inches above the knee (they tend to be way too short on me)
  • Long sleeved or 3/4 sleeves
  • Light enough so I can wear it all summer
  • Not too skintight (think cute over sexy)
All of these points = No luck so far!!

Want to know the sad thing? I actually found my perfect dress! Where's the sad part you might be asking?? Well, here it is: the dress is part of the Spring/summer 11 collection of Dolce & Gabbana (the dress above). No matter the amount of wish and praying I do I have to be honest with myself and realise that it will never be mine...unless you'd be nice enough to buy  it for me! ;0)

Any of these would also do...

Skirt Vintage Rodier Paris - Cropped tee Flea Market - Belt Vintage - Shoes Forever21

As I am writing this a brand new layer of snow has fallen to the ground. After an absolutely gorgeous week-end my mind was tricked into thinking spring had finally arrived. I think you can guess that the outfit above isn't what I was really wearing but more of a wishful thinking outfit. I can't wait until all the wet mess clears up so I can finally wear these Miu Miu inspired heels (they are made of fabric and would get totally destroyed by the wet snow). Just by glancing at them my mind seems to cheer up instantly...the perfect pairing with warmer weather.

Until then, it's back to cozy knits, rain boots, tights and warm coats.

A Dreamer's Musing

Shirt Thrifted - Leather Shorts Thrifted and DIY - Headband Ardène - Bracelets Vintage, BCBG Max Azria and some gifted - Watch Bulova

It’s been way too long since I’ve done this…Let’s just say that the beginning of the year didn’t go exactly as I had wished it would. Trouble, scares and unfortunate events are probably the biggest cause for my inspiration drought. Real life just seemed a lot more important lately…and even though the problems may never go away (and others may arise) I have come to realize that I should never forget about the important thing in life. One of the things that always bring a smile to my face is blogging. Even If everything is going wrong in my life, I always have this place that will welcome my thoughts, dreams and inspirations.

I can’t believe it has already been two years since I embarked on this venture. Since then, a million Montreal blogs have popped up (some better than others) and the community has grown like crazy. Through all of this, I am very pleased with the way my blog has continued to evolve without compromising its integrity…and there’s a lot more to come because I’ve got some great things lined up for you.

Spring has to be every blogger’s favorite time of the year. After month of darkness preventing us from being able to take some great photos after work/school the days are finally getting longer…and warmer. I can safely say that the pictures above did not cause me to transform into a big cube of ice. Oh the joy!! It was the perfect occasion to wear my new turban/headband for the first time. I’ve been truly obsessed with these. After looking everywhere, I finally found exactly what I was looking for at Ardène…at the ridiculous price of 3x15. I got every single pattern they had: swallows, flowers, polka dots, lace and satin. They’ll be absolutely perfect comes summer time!
