When the real thing is way out of your price range, why not afford the next best thing…especially when it looks this good. I found this Hermès Collier de Chien replica as I was about to pay for my last haircut at the salon. It was nicely displayed right beside the counter along with a bunch of gorgeous jewellery pieces. Could they tempt me even more? I don’t think so! Pair that with all of the amazing hair products for sale and I left with a 200$ bill. Guess there is no need to change when you are so set in your ways ;)

The Tan Debate
As far as I can remember, I’ve always been afraid of the sun. It is probably due to my undying love of anything vintage (yes, my love for vintage things goes wayyyyy back) but a porcelain skin and a milky complexion have always been part of my beauty ideal. You can blame it on Snow White…
In high school, just as any other girl, I’ve had a time where I just wanted to fit in. It was then that I first tried tanning at a salon. After a few sessions, I was done. The sunburns, the smell of burning skin and the dry effect it had on my face were all too much. That was enough for me to embrace my natural complexion.
Yes, at first my decision to ban the tan was based solely on looks but over the years, with the deterioration of the ozone layer, my simple preference transformed into a real fear. Even in the winter, I swear by my list of beauty products that contains at least a tiny bit of SPF. Keeping out of the sun has basically become an art form for me. As a teen, because I cared about the health of my loved ones, I am always trying to win over the sun worshippers. Years later, It was my mother’s turn to get the same annoying treatment (yeah, I admit it). I can remember her coming back from a vacation in a south looking like a real-life Oompa loompa…way before Snookie had even seen the Jersey Shore. Not a good look. After years of pleating, reminding her of the harmful effects of the sun, she finally gave in. I am happy to report she is now back to a normal shade of pink.
After a freakish scare with my dad (men have to be careful with the sun too!), I decided to have a mole checked out asap. It had been growing for about 2 years and was a very dark brown, almost black. All this time, I kept hearing these little voices telling me Something is wrong, you have to take care of this. Time is important; never wait! Skin cancer moves like a sneaky little bitch. I will go all Oprah on you and tell you that every woman has this gut feeling, this instinct; it is your mission to listen to it. If you feel something is wrong, it probably is. You know your body better than anybody else so read it carefully and you should be able to notice if something weird is going on…and when in doubt, call the doctor! If all else fail, you can always try to keep try of your skin with the skin cancer prevention apps (there really is an app for everything!).
Me who had always stayed out of the sun, could it be?! Where those few sunburns enough to cause irreparable damage? I’ll know more in a few weeks…but I’ll regret forever those few times I laid out in the sun without putting anything on my skin.
Skin cancer is one of the leading causes of death in young adults and the numbers are unfortunately growing every day. This is why I plead of you to buy yourself a good sunscreen and to slap it on! While you’re at it, why not buy yourself a hat to protect your scalp. They’ve been on trend for the past few seasons so you should have no trouble finding a cute one…just make sure the material is light enough so your brain doesn’t cook under the heat. If fair skin just isn’t your thing, you can always go on a bronzer shopping spree to get the look without the damage. Just remember the 3 rule!

Style Muse - Oh land
The girl looks like a model! Her voice sounds ethereal and she’s got a style all her own. Talk about a winning combination! This , amongst a lot of other things, makes her a definite must see at this year’s Osheaga Festival! I’m so excited to see what she’s going to wear when the time comes…and how the crowd will react to her persona. I wonder if she is going to try and pull off the glitter face in the august sun?! Hehehe
You must check out the video below. I am sincerely blown away by her powerful yet understated voice, so mesmerizing.

If you ever
had the chance to go through my closet, you would quickly realize that my style
can be summed up in a few adjectives: Flowy, confortable and well…shapeless, the
good kind of shapeless. The one that lets you run around, be silly and makes
wearing a dress every day something not so far-fetched. Check out the latest adding
to my collection. It is one part 60s mod, one part wood nymph which in my heads
equals perfection.
What can I
say, I’ve never been one to love really form fitting dressed or structured looks.
It probably has something to do with the fact that I would rather be considered
cute than hot. There’s a very simple reason why Brigitte Bardot is one of my
style icons, I will always be une
femme-enfant.

This past
weekend, the whole of Montreal was buzzing with excitement for all the F1 Grand
prix festivities. The closed streets, the tourists and the celebrities
(Rihanna, Drake, Bradley Cooper, Rachelle Lefebvre and Colin Farrell among
others) all helped to build this festive atmosphere. I, on the other hand, am
not really one for racing or any other sport for that matter especially when it
comes to watching them. However, I can admit to really enjoying the fun that comes
along with watching the glamorous crowd (insert sarcasm here!).
On my part,
the excitement steamed from something far more extraordinary! To say that my
weekend was a blast might just be the understatement of the year. Amazing
things happened but it was in fact manly due to this sudden burst of happiness
that made everything seem overly wonderful.
Firstly, I seem to have suddenly realized that my move is imminent. I cannot wait until I can settle into my new bedroom AND my boudoir…a real dream come true! Moving in itself isn’t all that exciting but organizing my new walk-in/room closet surely is.
To top all
of this, I had the extreme pleasure of meeting fashion royalty Jean-Paul
Gaultier during his signing at Holt Renfrew. More on that tomorrow morning!!
Later during that same day, my friend Jérémie and I enjoyed a delicious plate
of oysters at Maestro SVP and a few black velvets at Mckibbins pub. When
decided what to do with the rest of our evening, I suggested trying to see
Rihanna who was playing the Bell Center…for free and if that didn’t work, we
would have settled for seeing Bridemaids. Let’s just say we never saw the movie
:).
Rihanna AND Drake on stage during What’s my name! I would like to give a big thank you to the two random guys who left early and nicely giving us their tickets. So nice of you!!

Colour Blocking, Crystals and Loulou Magazine
Click on the link below to find out what I am wearing.
Sorry for being away for so long! Things are getting a tiny bit hectic as I am planning my big move at the end of the months. Lately, it's been all about packing, decorating (you can check out some of my inspiration right here) and buying stuff for my new place leaving not much space for anything related to fashion. I'll try to keep as on track with blogging as possible while everything goes down.
In the mean time, here is the link to my 2 last blogposts on the Loulou Magazine blog. Yes, the month is already over! My stint as the magazine's guest blogger is already over...but it sure was fun while it lasted. Big thanks, once again, to the Loulou team. It is always so much fun working with you!!
