Style Muse: Elle Fanning
After
reading Mode 34B’s blog post about the A magazine featuring lovely ElleFanning, I spent the remainder of the night browsing her Fashion Spot thread.
It only took a few pages for me to realize that the girl’s style goes far beyond
her young age (can you believe she isn’t even 15 yet?!). She has become quite
the fashion darling and the ‘’it girl’’ with some of the best designers around
(Marc Jacobs and Rodarte anyone!?). As you all probably know by now, I’m a real
sucker for ethereal blonde and I guess my girl crush can probably be justified
by the simple fact that Elle looks like she belongs in the real life cast of
one of my favourite movies Virgin Suicide.
Oh, I
watched Super 8 on Christmas day and I quite enjoyed it…such a feel good movie
for the holiday period.
I’m curious
to know, Which Fanning sister would you trade closet with?

I always find that the holidays are the perfect time to take a trip down memory lane. Here are some mini me pictures of yours truly getting her festive on.
Hope you are all enjoying the Holidays with your families, friends and loved ones.

Forever 21 Navajo Jewellery

| Necklaces Forever 21 |
My go-to
spot to pick up some interesting jewellery, apart from the Flea Market, has
always been Forever 21. The store offers some pretty decent quality jewellery
that is always on trend without ever breaking the bank. Sure, you sometime have
to dig through some over bedazzled crap to find the gems but trust me it is
always worth the effort. The necklaces above are some great examples of why
everytime I go into Forever 21 I can’t come out without spending at least 50$
on jewellery. As you’ve probably noticed, I have a real thing for Navajo inspired
anything so it is no surprise that I put these in my shopping basket as soon as
I laid eyes on these.
Are you curious
to see what is on my wish list next? I want these star earrings, this fringewonder, this statement native ring, this arrow necklace, this art deco dangler,
this necklace from the collaboration with Alex & Chloe and finally this
spiked collar. Want to know the worst thing, there’s more, I just didn’t want
to make a never-ending wish list. LOL

Purple used
to be my favourite colour. Given the choice, I would always pick this
shade, whatever the variation of tone it was in. Dare I remind you that my old
room (at my parent’s house) used to be this dark purple shade with leopard accents?
LOL. As you can probably guess I pretty much overdosed on this colour after
spending 6 years between purple walls. Since then, I gave away every purple
item I ever owned, I moved into an apartment where my bedroom walls are
white and for the longest time, I swore I would never wear purple again. The picture above goes to show that you should never say never! Life can’t
always be a purple rain (so bad…lol)!
I picked up
this nail polish while waiting in line at the dollar store. The great shade
selection and the incredibly low price made me curious enough to see if it would hold
up quality wise. Along with this gorgeous lilac shade, I picked up a great
turquoise that looks a lot like Essie’s Turquoise & Caicos and a great
neutral taupe. After trying out each of the shade, I could have been more
pleased with the result. The polish has staying power, absolutely no streaking and
doesn’t leave a stain on my nails after I take it off. At this price, the great
thing is that I won’t even feel guilty picking up some other shades.

Event: Stila X Qc

The Holiday period is always my favourite time of the year to stock up on beauty products and try out some new brands. With the gift giving frenzy, companies are coming out with the best limited edition holiday collection and gift sets full of their best selling products. I find it is the best way to try out something new without having to shell out the full price.
A few weeks
ago, I was invited by the amazing girls at NKPR to preview Stila’s Holiday
2011 collection. As a devoted Olsen twins fan, I was sold on the Stila Lip Glaze as soon as I read an interview in which they recommended the product back
when they starred in Charlie’s Angel: Full Throttle! However, I have to admit
that I had never tried any other products from the brand. True, it has only been a
few years since my interest in beauty products has somewhat surpassed the usual
affection to become a full on addiction. Still, I usually try to test out any
product that has built itself a cult following. I was so excited at the idea to finally get the change to try out other Stila cosmetics.
That night was
my very first time hearing about Kitten, Stila’s top selling award winning eye shadow colour and I have to thank the always
lovely and adorable Steph from Le Cheap C’est Chic for introducing me to a new favourite. I knew I had to make it mine as soon as I swarched it on my hand! The champagne colour is perfect on the whole lid for a pretty day time look or used as an highlight when sporting a smoky eye.
Part of the event’s activities included a fun blogger challenge in which we had to create our very own shadow palette (as you can guess, the shade Kitten had to be part of mine!). The winning combination will be sold in Pharmaprix all across Quebec. What a fun challenge it was! Although quite hard with so many gorgeous shades to choose from. You can see my creation in the 3rd pic above. Do you like? I called it Modern Gypsy. Fingers crossed that you’ll be able to buy it comes spring!

Still not
done with your holiday gifts? I suggest you consider picking up the Holiday
palette (whether it is the Dream in Full Colour Palette (50$) or the DaydreamPalette (24$)) which contains every single shade a women would needs…makeup addict or
not.
Also, don’t
forget to print out the coupon below to get 3500 points on your optimum card
with any Stila purchase (you have until December 31st to redeem your
points!)
Style Muse: Elizabeth Olsen

Is it that
much of a stretch to figure out that I would be in love with the style of the
new Olsen on the scene. Her style might be light-years away from her sisters’
(I find that she is much more polished) but that’s exactly what I love about her.
I also really like that she has no trouble mixing high-end and low-end pieces.
Let’s face it, with sisters like hers, she must have a closet worth drooling
over packed full of designer names yet, she stills chooses to shop on Asos. To
me, this is the true definition of style! You can’t buy your way into being a
style icon…
Oh, and by
the way, I finally had the chance to see Martha Marcy May Marlene! The girl can
act, there’s no doubt about it. I’m so excited to see what she has in store for
us…style or acting wise.

Wednesday Manicure: Gold Digger

| On My Nails Revlon Metallic Nail Polish in Gold Coin |
I’ve been
digging gold nail lately. They are appropriate for just about any occasion
whether it is to be dressed up or down. I especially love this metallic shade
paired with chunky cozy knits as it lends to perfect chic juxtaposition to a
more casual look.
I’m still
on the hunt for the perfect nude shade, any suggestions?
Oh! And I
have no idea which week I am on but I bet you can guess from the length of my
nails that my quest wasn’t so successful… There’s always the New Year’s
resolution. Think positive Steph, think positive!
Style Muse: Jaime King

The main reason why most people watch the new WB serie Hart of Dixie is, without a doubt, to catch a glimpse of Rachel Bilson’s wardrobe. I, on the other hand, wait patiently every week to see what adorable dress Jaime King’s character will be wearing.
There’s no denying it, I’ve always had a thing for the southern belle aesthetic. Guess I can only blame my really girly side. It’s always trying to take over my extremely cool persona (LOL, yeah right…) and make me look bad. What I love most about Lemon (such a cute name it’s almost nauseating!) is that you always get a bit of a vintage vibe from her, no matter her choice of outfit.
IRL, Jaime King’s closet seems just as enviable as her on screen one. Like me, she tends to favour dresses or feminine pieces in delicate colours. To me, she’s always one to watch on the red carpet. I also find myself seaming a lot of inspiration from her beauty choices. She tends to change things up really often whether with colour or a pop of fuchsia on her lips. Sure, her success rate might not be 100 but I always appreciate a daring spirit.
You know what they say: With lemon, you make amazing fashion lemonade (aren’t I clever…lol)
