Granny Dress

Floral Midi Dress Vintage via Village des Valeurs - Military Jacket Thrifted via Community Shop - Moccasins Minnetonka - Necklace Gift from a friend - Sunglasses Vintage Byblos via Saint-Eustache Flea Market

There's nothing better to lift your heart and spirit than spending a day with your family vagabonding and having brunch in Saint-Sauveur especially when said day includes my little sis'. Once again, she's back from Dominican Republic for a few months and I do intend on spending as much time with her as possible. Some of those days will, without a doubt, include some shopping and a few photo shoots for the blog. It's stupid with when she's home, I feel like my heart is whole again. OK, enough with the cheese and let's get on with the fashion.

The dress I am wearing above is another fabulous thrifting find. I was sold on it's granny length and floral print from the get-go. I know it would be summer appropriate paired with some nude sandals (which I have yet to own).

Is this what you call men repealing? I say, not if you're on the look out for a 70 year old men...lol. I kid, I kid.

Hope your long week-end was as nice as mine!

Shoe Porn - Cooperative Blue Suede Boots

According to Wikipedia, the art of thrifting can be described as such:

Thrifting refers to the act of shopping at a thrift store, flea market, garage sale, or a shop of a charitable organization, usually with the intent of finding interesting items at a cheap price.

To me, it can be so much more than that. Being thrifty can also mean that you're a queen at finding great bargain in the most unexpected places. Being thrifty about fashion doesn't end where regular retail store begin. I've come to pride myself about being able to find good deals everyone and even find some fashion gems in the most surprising places. The key to it all is to never judge a book (ie. store front) by it's cover (ie. image), it's all about making your own which is why I believe you should never buy for the brand/name but for the item itself.

Know when to shop where, what to buy where and I swear your closet and wallet will thank you for it.

These lovely blue suede shoes (!) I got at Urban Outfitters when they were having a 50% off all shoes already on sale. At 9.99, they were a no-brainer buy. They'll be perfect with little summer dresses and skinny jeans and a nice change from my usual black shoes. I also got 2 more pairs during this shopping trip that I can't wait to share with you. One is the perfect disco queen platform while the other is a statement basics (and you know how much I enjoy those!!).

Have a great day lovelies

Here's another quick one...

Routine just gets to best of you sometimes. I'll be back tomorrow to more regular posting. In the meantime, here's an outfit that would be best suited for the autumn weather. I kind of feel like I just skipped ahead and forgot about summer.

Still, you know I can't because: "the summer is magic, is magic oh ho oh..."

Lights out peps'. Time for bed. I have a 4am wake up call tomorrow (you read that right!!) and I don't feel like being tired/bitchy all day long. I'll gather my strength to get up at this unreasonable time by telling myself that it means 1 day less to wait until my little sis' id back in Montreal. HEEEE!

Melody Musing: Marit Larsen

All pictures TFS

Marit Larsen is, in my humble opinion, Norway's answer to Montreal's very own Coeur de Pirate minus the bad attitude and the whining (I love the girl but you've got to admit that she tends to be a bit of a pain...). Both love to take on a Femme-enfant demeanor when singing about love, heartache and love's daily struggles and all of the while having amazing style.

Basically unknown in America (or maybe you can remember her as one half of M2M feature on the pokemon soundtrack!), Marit has become a huge star in her native Norway as well as in Germany and other european countries. Her concerts are almost always sold out and her style is copied by many. Always understated with a minimal details, she prefers feminine silhouettes and vintage inspired styles. You can also sens a slight influence of Zooey Deschanel in her wardrobe choices. She's a real girl's girl.

I'm curious, had you ever heard of her before? What do you think?
