Don't forget to check out my latest blog post on the Loulou magazine blog. It is all about my love for 70's fashion and one of my very first style icon (and still a favorite), Kate Huson's Almost Famous character, Penny Lane.

It's it so funny when you've been looking for something forever and you end up finding it in the most random place! This was the case with this hat. I had been looking for the perfect one for ages. Urban Outfitters, H&M and Forever 21 all had cute options but they were always either too expensive or had something off. I couldn't believe my eyes when I stumbled upon this one while rummaging the aisles of my local Ardène. This goes to show that one of my fashion adage really is true: ''Don't discriminate!''. Don't be scared to step out of your usual fashion path...you never know what you might find at the store you usually pass by.

Check out my blog post on Loulou Magazine to see more pictures from this shoot and find out what I am wearing!

I couldn’t have been more proud when Loulou magazine asked me to be featured in their blogger look page for the month of May. A whole page in the magazine is dedicated to my favorite spring/summer looks and trends. Talk about exciting, especially since some of the other bloggers featured include Rumi Neely, Pandora, Elizabeth, Aimee and Elodie! You will also be able to read me once a week on their blog. For this week’s post, I chose to share with you some of the tricks I learned on how to mix and match prints in a successful way. Head on over here to read my guest post and why not check out Sophie BT’s (Loulou permanent guest blogger) posts while you’re at it! The girl couldn’t be more gorgeous and stylish!

Mommy's Dearest

Hat Vintage - Shirt T by Alexander Wang

The sun was shining all week-end...maybe not to it's fullest potential but we'll pretty much take anything these days. The last few days were all about some of my favorite things in life: Thrifting and my mom. Of course, not in that order. We rumaged through all of the yard sales, flea market and charity shops in my area to find some interesting furniture and decorations for my new appartement, which I will be moving in at the end of june (nice birthday gift!). Wouldn't have spent mother's day any other way.

Happy Mother's day Mom, I love you!

Style Muse: Isabel Lucas

Photobucket

I love Angus Stone. I love Isabel Lucas. Now put the two together and I am completely in love! So much so that I may have found my new golden couple…they are fast becoming a favorite alongside Diane & Joshua. Probably has to do with the fact that Angus and Julia Stone has been my soundtrack these past rainy days. As for Isabel, she has always been one of my beauty/style icons. Her delicate features, glowy skin, cute freckles and strong eyebrows make her one of Hollywood’s prettiest lady!

The fact that her style is straight out of the 60’s in an almost costume-y way makes her all the more interesting. Her recurring fashion mishap also makes her so incredibly endearing…so different from the young Hollywood starlet dressed head-to-toe by a stylist. You have no Idea how jealous I am of this girl’s amazing vintage wardrobe …and handsome boyfriend (especially when he is all scruffy).

When I think of sheer button down shirts/dresses, the first thing that pops into my head is Clueless. Paired with knee high socks and short pleated skirt the look always brings back memories of Cher’s signature look. It’s so weird to realize that every girl’s style icon from the 90’s still somehow influences my style. However, I do have to admit that I was always way more obsessed with the girls from The Craft than with Cher’s California girl look.

The gems I am wearing above is from one of my latest thrift outing. At 1.99$, I knew I couldn’t pass it up…even if pulling it off came to be quite a challenge. My first thought was of wearing it as a shirt but fast realized that the oversized shape looked crazy on my body…a little bit too excessive, even for me (I pretty much love anything at least 1 size too big)! After belting it with my gorgeous (one of my faves) pony hair leopard print belt it dawned on me that it could also be worn as a dress. One quick change from jeans to tights was enough to make me fall in love with this inexpensive find.

After putting the whole outfit together, I quickly discovered that my affinity for the gothic look from the witchcraft movie couldn’t be erased from my memory. Not matter how much I used to love Cher’s amazing rotation closet; I was always much more intrigued by the dark side of things. Once an outcast, always an outcast…even if said outcast seems to have a big love for fashion ;)

Killer Weekend

Dress Tiger Giant - Earrings and Bracelet Bizou

Spring has finally sprung over Montreal and it couldn’t have come at a better time!! On Thursday night, I welcomed home my little sister straight from her sunny new ‘’almost’’ home: Dominican Republic. I couldn’t be happier even though I’ll probably be too busy to spend any real quality time with her. Bits and pieces will have to do. That… and a huge shopping spree together. I bet you can figure out they don’t have the best stores in DR. I don’t know how she does it, 5 months without any shopping...and no thrifting what so ever (the latter doesn’t really apply to her since she can’t even be bothered with anything bigger than a H&M/Forever 21. Forget about Winners, Value Village or Simons…). On the other hand, it would probably be the death of me!

On our first night together, we enjoyed a fun evening out with the Telegraphe team as well as a few blogger friends. We sang our hearts out at l’Astral 2000, this hole in a wall karaoke bar that has become somewhat of an institution in the city. I had so much fun and made a fool of my self singing Blondie’s Call me, All Saints’ Never ever and No doubt’s Hella Good among others. This place is always sure to make for a fun evening especially when you are surrounded by such lovely people.

On Saturday night, I went and saw The Kills in concert for the third time. I swear, If you have to choose what concert to spend your hard earned money on, this band is always a sure bet! Once again they killed it (no pun intended ;)) Allison always owns the stage, circling it as if she was a lion in a cage. She is so mesmerising that I don’t think I’ve glanced once second at Jamie… a big thing considering he is quite the eye candy and my personal male style icon. So much so that I couldn’t even tell you what he was wearing.

The weekend ended with the perfect Sunday spent relaxing at home and a late afternoon nap as the sun was still shinning outside. Now, I feel ready for the week ahead and all of the events on the calendar (really hoping to drag my little sister to some of them).

Hope you have a great week!
